Rhostyllen 15 - Connahs Quay Tigers 4.

After two fantastic results in the cup it was back to the league for The Village this week, with Connahs Quay Tigers visiting The Rec.
In game full of goals it was The Tigers who took the lead after 12 minutes, a long ball over the top for the left winger saw him race into the box his shot was tipped onto the bar by Joshua Jones but was followed up by a team mate who give the visitors a one goal advantage.
It didn’t take long for Rhostyllen to hit back, in the 18th minute a James Jones’ corner found Darren Hignett who had a free header and powered it past the keeper to make it 1-1.
A minute later and Rhostyllen had turned the game upside down and took the lead, James Jones played a lovely diagonal ball out to Ashley Ryan on the right, and he ran towards the touch line before a very good cross back to Jones who got his first goal of the day.
The lead only lasted two minutes as the goals continued to fly in, Connahs Quay once again played the ball down the left, the winger was able to beat Dean Jones to go one on one with Jones in goal and a cool finish got The Tigers back on level terms.
With 25 minutes gone the game continued to be a great watch for the neutral! Ashley Ryan took a quick throw in on the right to find James Jones who skipped easily past two defenders before his 18 yard shot found the back of the net to make it 3-2 to the home team.
Two minutes later and Rhostyllen took a 2 goal lead, Olie Allman on the right floated in an inviting cross which winger Lewis Clamp was able to flick past the keeper with his head.
With one minute to go until half time, good link up play between Gav Maloney, Darren Hignett and Steven Jones eventually got the ball out to Ashley Ryan on the right who fizzed a cross for striker Allman to slot home to make it 5-2 at half time.
It only took a minute in the second half until Rhostyllen scored again, once again Ashley Ryan put in a cross for Allman in the middle, the striker chested the ball down the hit it on the volley for a well taken goal to make it 6-2.
A mistake from the Tigers keeper gave Allman his hat-trick, a poor goal kick found Allman 20 yards out who hit the ball straight back at the keeper who was unable to keep the shot out to make it 7-2.
Eight minutes into the half and another error cost The Tigers, a James Jones corner was hit to the near post and headed in for an own goal to give Rhostyllen their 8th of the day.
With 55 minutes gone Connahs Quay got a goal back, a well worked through ball found its way to the Tigers striker who looked to be in an offside positon, the ref waved play on and the strikers first shot was saved by Jones but the rebound did squeeze past the keeper to make it 8-3.
After the Tigers third there was the quietest period of the match which saw 10 minutes pass without a goal, when that goal did come, it was James Jones getting a hat-trick this time. His right footed shot from the edge of the area saw the keeper get a hand to the shot, but unable to keep it out for The Village’s 9th.
Rhostyllen made it double figures in the 68th minute when James Jones showed good pace to beat his man before lobbing the keeper for his 4th of the game!
With twenty minutes to go, Rhostyllen continued to punish the visitors, Allman, James Jones and Steven Jones played some good one touch passes in the box before Allman lobbed the advancing keeper, his effort was about to be cleared off the line but Allman followed up his own effort to make sure he got his 4th goal of the game and Rhostyllen’s 11th.
Three minutes later Ashely Ryan who instead of setting up a goal, beat his man, cut inside and chipped the keeper to get himself a well-deserved goal and his teams 12th.
With ten minutes remaining Ashley Ryan held the ball up on the right, Dean Jones over lapped and put a decent cross in James Jones’ shot hit the woodwork and Olie Allman followed it up to make it 13-3 and got his 5th of the day. Straight from the kick off The Tigers managed to get a fourth goal, a ball down the left saw the striker finish at the near post with a good finish.
With three minutes remaining Rob Gibson got his name on the scoresheet with a good header from an Ashley Ryan corner.
With the 90 minutes up Rhostyllen made it 15-4 when James Jones’ lofted through ball saw Steven Jones through on goal, his cool finish was the last kick of an unbelievable game which saw 19 goals to boost the home teams goal difference as they maintain their 100% record in the league.
