Chirk Town remain seven points clear at the North East Wales League Premier Division summit after a narrow 3-2 victory over Halkyn and Flint Mountain.

The Taverners maintained their 100% home record with a seventh straight success, but they were given a good battle by the third-place team.

Nicky Williams and Tom Freeman (2) put the hosts three-up before Connor Turner pulled one back close to half time.

A late second for the visitors from Phil Lloyd ensured just one goal separated the teams at the final whistle.

Dean Hyland netted four and Daniel Calvert three as second-place Greenfield romped to a 9-1 outcome at Lex XI.

Ryan Jones and Connor Hughes also made the scoresheet, Owen Williams with the Lawmen’s sole reply.

Hari Gould’s double ensured Cefn Mawr Rangers pipped FC Queen’s Park 2-1, Barry Torrence the away marksman.

Aaron Davies (3), Lewis Jones (2) and Liam Davies guided New Brighton Villa to a 6-0 caning of Overton Recreational.

It ended 4-4 between Castell Alun Colts and Coedpoeth United.

Harry Brown, Stuart Williams, Luca Nardo and Nathan Davies supplied the home goals, David Hughes, Curtis Griffiths (2) and Kevin Breeze with an 88th minute penalty making sure Coedy took a point.

Championship Division
Penyffordd Lions hold a nine-point lead at the peak following a 4-2 triumph at Borras Park Albion.

The roaring Lions are undefeated since the start of the season with a record of nine wins and a draw.

Joel Buchanan notched a hat-trick yesterday, including a penalty, Liam Williams also scored and Marcus Davies missed from the spot. Lewis Evans (pen) and Stephen Lee struck for BPA.

Thomas Hyndman scored five as AFC Bagillt rattled up a 13-1 scoreline against Bellevue.

Sean Wilkes, Niall Roberts (1 pen) and Thomas Edwards all netted two each, while Luke Williams and Justin Price added singles, Adam Morgan with Bellevue’s sole reply.

FC United of Wrexham versus Johnstown YFC ended 6-6.

Aston Jones (3, 2 pens), George Yarwood (2) and Kirk Ratcliffe produced the home haul, Robert Reynolds (3), Matthew Durban (2) and Nathan Mugford responded for the visitors.

Lee Price scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, as Ruabon Rovers saw off Railway Rovers 4-1. Josh Williams added a single for the hosts, Ryan Loose on target for Railway.

Caerwys v Sychdyn was postponed due to Covid.

Reserves Division
David Saulsbury (2), Luis Rowland (2), Liam Hett, Josh Edwards and Josh Hughes shared the goals in Hawarden Rangers’ 7-2 breeze at Ruthin Town Development.

Osian Gallagher Wort and Robert Jones replied for the home team.

The four other scheduled matches in the division were called off due to a shortage of officials.

Last weekend’s total of 76 goals in 14 league matches was impressive enough, but on Saturday, 10 games produced 78 goals!

Had the five postponed matches gone ahead, goodness knows what total we would have seen.
