REPORTS – PREMIER DIVISION

Connah’s Quay Nomads Vets 0
Nick Voyle and Chris Geary’s Caerwys side put an end to Nomads’ unbeaten record.

Reigning Premier champions Caerwys, missing seven regulars, faced a very good visiting team who started very strong.

The hosts weathered the first 10 minutes of heavy pressure from Nomads, who could have taken an early lead but for stand-in keeper Tom Davies making a fantastic save.

Caerwys then edged in front when Geary burst past two players to be taken down in the box where Lee Jones scored from the spot.

The home team could have taken a 3-0 lead into half time with some better finishing from Anthony Wearden.

The second half saw Nomads change formation to push for a goal, however, a sloppy back pass let in Terry Jones to round the keeper and make it 2-0.

A long throw-in from Lee Jones then landed at the feet of Geary, who slotted home from 12 yards.

Caerwys wasted three very good opportunities in the closing stages to enhance the scoreline.

Derek Nurse scored twice for Holt and Farndon in this commanding victory.

Nurse struck on seven and 75 minutes, while Lewis Norman, Dave Brereton and Phil Reeves also found the net.
