Cups – joy for Connah’s Quay Town and Gronant; champions Greenfield go nap

PREMIER DIVISION
Greenfield 5 Castell Alun Colts 1
Champions Greenfield found some of their old form as they saw off Castell Alun comfortably at the Bernie Williams Memorial Ground.

Dean Hyland (2), Lewis Williams, Benjamin Sim and Connor Hughes shared the home goals, Daniel Woosey having equalised for Colts during the first half, which ended 3-1.

Connah’s Quay Town 3 Lex XI 1
Jake Leonard, Stephen Berry and Harry Massey notched the goals which sent the Quay into the next round, Finley Dyer with Lex’s sole response.

Holywell United 3 CPD Sychdyn 7
Brandon Jones was a five-goal star for Sychdyn on an afternoon where four Championship matches saw the net found a combined 39 times.

Shane Wellings also delivered a double for the visitors, Alex Forsyth (2) and Dylan Mackie for the home side.

Johnstown 12 Bellevue 2
Keneth Davies netted on six occasions as Johnstown took their visitors apart.

Callum Poole (2), Dwayne Jones, Joseph Davies, Finnley Poole and Charlie Samuels teamed up to produce the home side’s other six goals.

João Da Silva and Jamie Downward hit back for the away side.

Overton Recreational 4 Saltney Ferry 4
Jake Johnson’s 93rd minute leveller salvaged a point for Saltney Ferry from this eight-goal cracker.

Harry Massey (3) and Christopher Bush split the goals for Overton, who trailed three times before grabbing a 4-3 lead.

Johnson also scored in the first minute for Ferry, Dean Disley and Kieran Dutton then putting them 3-2 up before the hosts went ahead on 77 minutes. Then came Johnson’s equaliser.

Ruabon Rovers 6 FC United of Wrexham 1
Andrew Swarbrick, Michael Jones, Conner Kendrick, James Jones and Ryan Williams combined to give Rovers a 5-0 half time lead.

That proved more than enough to win the game, but improving FCUW followed up their first win of the season seven days earlier by drawing the second half with mighty Ruabon 1-1.

Daniel Buck struck on 86 minutes to make it 5-1 before Swarbrick ensured the home team had the last word.

TWO COUNTIES CUP
CPD Gronant 3 Aston Park Rangers 2
Two very late goals delivered cup joy for Gronant.

Kallum Pierce put Rangers one-up on eight minutes, but Gyorgy Szabo levelled after 23.

No further goals until the 72nd minute when Johnny Crossley made it 2-1 to Aston.

However, Gronant kept pressing and Steven Kirk equalised on 87 before Martin Byast plundered the winner in the 89th minute.

RESERVE DIVISION
Caerwys Reserves 2 Castell Alun Colts Reserves 0
Toby Hughes (pen – pictured above) and Jack Wakeman provided the first-half goals which booked three points for Caerwys Reserves.

Penyffordd Lions Reserves 4 Greenfield Reserves 2
Samuel Evans, Kelson Cunnah and two Gareth Higgins penalties secured the win for Penyffordd, Dion Davies and Tom Collins responding for the visitors.

Ruthin Town Development 2 Coedpoeth United 6
Tyler Morris (2), Jacob Williams (3) and Osian Owen made up the six goals which brought a handsome victory to Coedpoeth.

A Nathan Roberts own goal and Sean Kell strike were no more than consolations for Ruthin.
