Tonight saw the opening six matches played in the tier 5 North East Wales League Championship Division.

Five games produced away wins and the total goals were a whopping 43 – an average of more than 7 per match.

Aston Park Rangers 1 Rhydymwyn 2
A good start for reformed Rhydymwyn, a Johnny Crossley own goal on 50 minutes and Nathan Williams strike soon after proving enough to pick up the points at Ty Calon.
Ryan Edge responded for APR after 76 minutes.

Bellevue 1 Johnstown YFC 2
Substitute Evan Hammonds’ 86th minute winner clinched the spoils for visitors Johnstown.

Nathan Taylor’s 26th minute goal handed Bellevue a half time lead, a second yellow for the away team’s Josh Hughes reducing them to 10 men for the second period.
It looked promising for BV, but captain Jason Williams levelled for Johnstown on 51 before Hammonds‘ late decider.

Brymbo 0 Overton Recreational 5
Not the happiest of opening nights for Brymbo as Overton went nap at the SSC.
Harry Massey and Alex Williams delivered doubles apiece for Rec, with Peter Thedens adding a late fifth.

CPD Gronant 9 Holywell United 3
The goals flowed for Gronant, braces from Dan Price and Gary Fazackerley putting them 4-0 up before Harvey McGrail hit back for United prior to the break.

In the second half, Fazackerley completed his hat-trick before sub Luke Elden, David O’Neill, Steve Kirk and Kallum Pierce added to the home tally.
Tomos Dickinson and an Aidan Bell own goal provided consolations for the visiting team.

Skippy 1 Acton 8
Substitute Peter Jones’ 88th minute goal was all newcomers Skippy had to show from an evening to forget.
Sam Giles was a five-goal hero for Acton, Tommy Hallam netting twice and Andy Bithell contributing a single.

CPD Yr Wyddgrug 3 FC Plas Madoc 8
Returning Plas Madoc hit eight on the road at new side Yr Wyddgrug.
Regular goal machine Nicky Williams bagged four for the visitors, one a penalty, Joshua Rush, James Williams and Ryan Jakovlevs (2) making up the remainder.

Jimmy McGlone scored Yr Wyddgrug’s first-ever goal on 54 minutes, Dewi Ashton and Sam Lloyd also on the scoresheet.
