Ruabon must win at FC United of Wrexham on Saturday to secure the Championship Division title on goal difference.

Caerwys gave themselves the best possible chance of finishing up champions on Thursday evening when they beat Rovers 5-2 at Ysgol-yr-Esgob to go top of the table with a season-long unbeaten record of 16 wins and four draws.

Ahead of FC United of Wrexham v Ruabon tomorrow the table stands
Caerwys: Played 20 Points 52 GD + 52
Ruabon: Played 19 Points 49 GD + 102

Caerwys completed the double over Rovers on Thursday, having beaten them 3-2 away back in October.

Daniel Sands’ team made the perfect start last night when Matthew Gilsenan gave them a first-minute lead.

There was no further score before half time.

Three minutes into the second half, Ruabon equalised through Conner Kendrick’s 46th goal of the campaign.

In the 54th minute, Gilsenan struck again for the hosts, then Toby Hughes made it 3-1 on 56.

Michael Jones pulled one back for the visitors with 67 on the clock to set up the prospect of a thrilling finish.

It was Caerwys who finished the stronger, Hughes bagging his second on 75 before completing his hat-trick in the 90th minute.
