Dan Sands marked his first game in charge of Caerwys with a comfortable win over strugglers Bellevue.

Had it not been for visiting keeper Martyn John it would surely have been double figures, particularly in the first half after some top saves.

Sands gave debuts to two new signings; keeper Tom Hooson and centre back Matt Rees. He also gave a start to Jack Wakeman, who had been in good form for the Reserves prior to the Christmas break.

It was a good choice as Wakeman had too much pace for the visitors, scoring a hat-trick with goals on 6, 39 and 55 minutes, and saw a second half penalty saved.

Also on target were Ryan Anderson with a brace (8 & 48) plus Jack Cox (45) and Callum Pritchard (64).

The new boss was pleased with the overall team display and the clean sheet.

He said: “Yes it could have been a lot more, but the pitch was bobbly and made things difficult for both sides.”

Caerwys have six games in hand on some teams and face a difficult test away at Ruabon Rovers next week.

Michael Jones scored a first half hat-trick as Ruabon strengthened their grip on third place with a four-goal triumph at Railway.
Lee Price added a 53rd minute penalty to make ultra-sure of an away win.

Borras Park Albion 2

Second-place Sychdyn cut the gap on leaders Penyffordd Lions to six points but having played two games more with a narrow success at Borras.
Brandon Jones (2) and George Steel were on target for the visitors, Oliver Scarsbrook and Lewis Evans ensuring the home team went close.

FC United of Wrexham 3
In a seven-goal thriller Johnstown were pushed hard by next-to-bottom FCUW.
Nathan Mugford, Robert Reynolds (2) and Joshua Smith (pen) provided the home tally, Luke Daniels, Aston Jones and Callum Parry replying.
Reynolds’ 88th minute strike proved the decider.

PREMIER DIVISION

Chirk Town 6
The Taverners maintained their four-point lead at the summit with a high-scoring victory at Castell Alun.
Joseph Doyle-Davies and Matthew Cooke both bagged braces for the table toppers, leading marksman Nicky Williams (pen) and Tom Freeman also on target.

Craig Worthington, Benjamin Bailey and Dain Smith made the scoresheet for Colts.

Ryan Jones. Liam Simon and Daniel Calvert (pen) delivered the goals for second-place Greenfield, who netted twice in the final 10 minutes.

A good old-fashioned crunch Wrexham derby took place at The Dunks, where the Park edged the honours.
Jake Harper struck on one and 60 minutes for the home team, Jack Pawley responding.

New Brighton Villa 1

Aled Reece (2) and Thomas Hyndman supplied the net-finders which sealed three points for third-place Mountain.
Aaron Davies came up with Villa’s solitary reply.

RESERVES DIVISION

Matthew Bithell had banged in a hat-trick by the 26-minute mark of this Reserves Division encounter, his latter goal a penalty.
Garry Whittaker (2), Sean Price, Darren Gallop, Ben White and Jon Roberts made up the rest of the Park’s nine-goal haul.

Luis Rowland (3, 2 pens), Damon Bradley, Joshua Jones and a Nathan Davies own goal wrapped up an emphatic triumph for Rangers.

Llangollen Town 1
Lex XI Reserves 7
Kacper Wojciech (3), Luke Harrington (2), George Pattenden and Joel Edwards combined to earn the Lawmen a huge win at Tower Field.
Joseph Morris delivered Town a consolation from the penalty spot.
