Treble winners in their debut season of 2021-22, Connah’s Quay Town made it a fourth trophy in their short existence when they lifted the Premier Division Cup on Saturday.

Last season, the Deesiders, formed in 2020 but who did not begin competing until 12 months later due to the pandemic, landed the North East Wales League Championship title, Mike Beech Memorial Trophy and the Two Counties Cup.

And Town can still make it a double this season as they chase the Premier Division title, with a huge game coming up at leaders FC Queen’s Park tomorrow (Wednesday).

Saturday’s final at Brymbo SSC saw the Quay have three players sent off yet they still managed to scoop the Premier trophy.

Lee Reynolds broke the deadlock on just three minutes, Kyle Reid with the assist.

It was 2-0 on the half-hour when Owen Edwards struck, Reid again involved in the set up.

Ryan Hewitt added a third in the 39th minute, Reid making it a hat-trick of assists.

Luca Nardo immediately pulled one back to make it 3-1 at half time.

In a dramatic second half, Town’s Ben Howarth was red-carded in the 49th minute.

Casty had a real chance to get back into it when they earned a penalty, but Louis Pritchard missed from the spot.

On the hour, Quay were reduced to nine men when Lewis Hodson saw red, yet despite this the Deesiders kept going forward and there was much joy for them in the 70th minute when Pascal Gomez made it 4-1, Reid the assist supplier for a fourth time.

Will Leonard was shown a second yellow for Town in the 83rd minute, leaving them with eight players, but there were no further goals.
