NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE REPORTS – APRIL 1

Premier Division
Lex XI 6 Mynydd Isa Spartans 1
New signing Liam Skelnar stole the show with a brace and two assists in a classy performance on his return to Stansty Park.

A great all-round performance from Lex included two more goals for Alan Huxley, a fantastic free kick from Tom Huxley and a shout for goal of the season from reserve striker George Baxter with a stunning 30 yard strike into the top corner.

Special mention to Josh Hancock, with his dazzling feet and weighted passing giving the strikers plenty of opportunities in the final third.

Thomas Mitchell provided Spartans’ sole reply.

FC Queen’s Park 1 Coedpoeth United 0
Goalkeeper Josh Edwards set the tone for a strong and solid Queen’s Park performance by saving a penalty inside 90 seconds.

Michael Taylor’s spot-kick was fired towards the bottom-right corner, but Edwards got down well to make a great stop.
The Park started to get into the game but the half was fairly uneventful until two defining moments. The first was Tony Jones scoring a great left-footed strike from the edge of the box to send the hosts one-nil up on the half-hour.

The second was a red card for Coedpoeth centre forward Adam Lloyd in the 34th minute which turned the game flat.

The second half was played mainly in the Coedpoeth half but in fairness they stayed solid at the back and confined the Park to a few pot shots.

The game fizzled out and Queen’s Park were happy to settle for the 1-0 without over extending themselves.

Castell Alun Colts 2 New Brighton Villa 1
Luca Nardo’s second-half double booked the points for Castell Alun. James Beck replying.

Greenfield 2 Penyffordd Lions 2
Daniel Calvert and Samuel Edwards put Greenfield two-up but a pair of goals inside as many minutes from Samuel Evans and Nath Lavender made it a level game.

Championship Division
Aston Park Rangers 2 Overton Recreational 0
Lewis Jones and Joshua Roberts hit the target for victorious Rangers.

Bellevue 2 CPD Gronant 8
Matthew Lewis (3), Martin Byast (2), Ryan Gizzi, Ashley Lloyd and Aidan Bell split the Gronant eight, João Da Silva grabbing both for Bellevue.

FC United of Wrexham 1 Saltney Ferry 2
Fionn Oglesby gave FCUW an early lead, but Oliver Johnson and Kieran Barratt hit back to nudge Ferry in front by the midway point of the first half and that was the end of the goals.

Holywell United 5 Johnstown 1
Shea Harding, Jack Swinnerton, Jake Hughes Hampson (2, 1 pen) and Joseph Jones combined to bring up the Holywell five, Keneth Davies having struck first on eight minutes for Johnstown.

Ruabon Rovers 7 Acton 1
Andrew Swarbrick bagged four goals as Rovers put seven past Acton.

Shaun Valentine, Conner Kendrick and Dan Kebell added singles for the hosts, Leonardo Mendes responding.

CPD Sychdyn 2 Caerwys 3
Leaders Caerwys keep on winning.

Kieron Day, Harry Roberts and Harry Wood gave the visitors a three-goal lead before a late revival which saw Alexander Millington and Brandon Jones on the mark gave Sychdyn hope.

Caerwys Reserves 1 Connah’s Quay Town Reserves 5
Keiron Hughes, Eddie Gallagher and a hat-trick from Andy Jones (one penalty) clinched this one for the Quay, Adam Phillips the sole home hitman.

FC Queen’s Park Reserves 7 Greenfield Reserves 0
No stopping the undefeated table-toppers with Daniel Roberts, Sean Humphreys, Joshua Venables (2, 1 pen), Aaron Filmer, Ryan Lancelotte and Liam Lawrence sharing in a seven-goal fest.

Lex Reserves 4 Ruthin Town Development 3
Ruthin led 3-2 after a thrilling first half, but Lex fought back to claim the points after the interval.

Home marksmen were: Gareth Beer, Iwan Llyr Jones, Lewis James Lloyd-Hughes and Tiler Moorcroft-Jones, Ben Allis (2) and Byron Jones having put the away side in a good position.

Mynydd Isa Spartans Reserves 1 Castell Alun Colts Reserves 2
Kobie Betts put Spartans into the lead with a 59th minute penalty, but Colts rallied to win 2-1 courtesy of Craig Worthington (71 mins) and Daniel Herdman (73).

Penyffordd Lions Reserves 2 Coedpoeth United Reserves 1
Lewis Evans and Thomas Potts put Penyffordd two to the good inside the first half-hour and although Jacob Williams halved the arrears on 33 minutes, there were no more additions to the scoreboard.
